About Healthy Green Drink
For those who are beginners to the whole green drink lifestyle, I’ve setup a page specifically for you. It’s like a getting started with drinking green manual.
What is Healthy Green Drink?
HGD was created with two goals in mind:
- Share green drink and smoothie recipes.
- Share information and health benefits of adding a green drink or smoothie to your diet.
It is my belief that adding to your diet rather than subtracting is a much more effective (and easier) way to reach your goals; whether that be losing weight, fighting fatigue, helping to fight off disease, or just fulfilling a desire to be healthier all around.
It is of course important what you add, and HGD is my attempt to show you just how effective green drinks and smoothies can be. Be sure to read the health disclaimer.
The Ultimate Goal
Add a green drink or smoothie to one meal you consume per day (preferably at breakfast). Make sure you drink it before you eat the rest of your meal.
Who is Healthy Green Drink?
My name is Jason Manheim and as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated with health, fitness, and the body’s ability to perform at its best when the right foods and exercises are introduced.
Because of this fascination, I have studied and participated in numerous diet and fitness fads, routines, and plans (like The 4-Hour Body, P90X, etc.). In the end, I have become quite educated in the lot and enjoy a better quality of life as a result.
I workout à la CrossFit at least 4 days a week, participate in Meatless Monday (although my usual diet is Primal or Paleo), experiment as much as I can, ride my bicycle around the city as my main mode of transportation, and occasionally find time to relax and enjoy a delicious slice of chocolate cake.
Healthy Green Drink is not a solo venture, though. My girlfriend helps out quite a bit; mostly by coming up with recipes that are really tasty and telling me when something I make is disgusting (seriously, I’ll drink anything with a slight green tint that comes out of a blender).

The Dumpkin Patch (my go-to morning green smoothie)
Here is what I make when I’m in a rush or lazy or not in the mood to completely wake up yet which, is about 6 days a week. It’s packed full of superfoods but I’m told it tastes like a rotting pumpkin patch (I can’t tell, I’ve been drinking it for so long that I actually crave it).
- Fill the blender (BlendTec) about 2/3 full with a mix of water, coconut water and coconut milk
- 1 cup frozen blueberries
- 1 heaping tablespoon of Libby’s 100% Pure Pumpkin
- 2 large handfuls of whatever greens I have excess of
- 1 banana
- Optional: 1 scoop of pure (no sweeteners added), flavor-free, whey protein isolate
